Luerssen Australia is a subsidiary of Lürssen, a 4th generation family-owned German company that builds Naval defence vessels and luxury yachts from its nine shipyards across Northern Germany.

Luerssen Australia is engaged as the prime contractor to build 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Department of Defence over a 12 year period. 

 

The successful applicant will be required to undergo the Australian Defence Force Security Clearance process, of which a minimum requirement is Australian Citizenship.

 

This is a full-time fixed-term contract opportunity until the end of 2022.

 

The Role

  • Maintain the configuration of the Document Management System (DMS) in compliance with company procedures, and any project specific client requirements ensuring a complete audit trail.
  • Responsible for maintaining records which are required within the DMS are per project requirements.
  • Collation and transmission of Production Documentation to Subcontractors.
  • Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all certification /testing is processed, available and auditable.
  • Control of all design and technical documentation within the DMS relating to production.
  • Collect, scan and upload documentation following set procedures for inclusion within the DMS.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of project QA and Configuration audits, rectify deficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Responsible for the update and maintenance of Document Control procedures and tools.
  • Provide timely turnaround for documentation and information.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements within the Document Control processes.
  • Provide guidance an advice on methods, procedures, standardisation and requirements to the project, client, contractors and third parties.
  • Support other Document Controllers within the project team.
  • Assist the Configuration Manager with ad-hoc and periodic internal and external reporting requirements.

 

Requirements

  • Suitable document control, or information management qualifications or an equivalent level of work experience
  • 3-5 years+ Document Control experience (essential)
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment with technical or industrial products (desirable)
  • Proven working knowledge of electronic document management systems such as Siemens TeamCentre (essential)
  • Worked within a large dynamic project organisation (essential)
  • Experience in handling certification, production documentation and supplier packs as well as as-built collation (desirable)
  • International project experience (desirable)
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills in particular within the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Experience in performing Level 1 DMS Support and Administration duties (desirable)
  • Project Coordination skills (desirable)
  • Basic understanding of production and project scheduling  (desirable)
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven team player in a busy environment
  • proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Experience in a defence or shipbuilding environment - highly desirable
  • Experience as a team leader would be ideal
