IT System Administrator

Bluewaters is a privately owned energy provider who is focused on becoming a leading power supplier in the Western Australian energy market.

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to expedite the maintenance of the existing networks and contribute to the planning, design and implementation of new networks and infrastructure projects.

Position Objective

As the System Administrator, you will be a subject matter expert who can function effectively in a small team, delivering hands-on technical advice, support and leadership to four related business entities. The role requires a diverse technical skillset as well as ability to perform stakeholder engagement, initiate opportunities for improvement, and analytical problem solving.

You will have genuine influence in the IT strategic decisions and technologies and will be a key stakeholder in project implementation.

 Responsibilities

  • Responsible for successful operation and maintenance of:
    • The Microsoft server stack
    • Complex network infrastructure spanning multiple sites
    • Multiple highly-available VMware environments
    • Enterprise storage
    • Document Management System
    • Next-generation firewall infrastructure
    • Enterprise backup platforms
  • Accountable for effective support and communication with various business units, including process control engineering and software development
  • Effective engagement with 3rd parties to optimise business outcomes
  • Participate in mentoring, knowledge sharing and advice within IT department and wider organisation

 Personal Attributes

  • Passion for improving business and technology processes for business optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills
  • An independent self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced team environment 
  • Willingness to be hands on and perform tasks of all levels of complexity when required from level one support through to leadership

 Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • At least four years' experience as a system administrator in a small-to-medium sized environment
  • Certifications in areas such as networking, Microsoft, Linux and security would be highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant area is desirable but not essential
