Careers Facilitator/Teacher (possibly with PDHPE)

We are seeking a versatile Careers Facilitator/Teacher to join our dynamic team on a full-time, temporary contract from August to December this year.

The chief focus of the Careers Facilitator is to provide students with resources and strategies to assist as they make career decisions.

This role combines 0.6 careers & 0.4 teaching. The ability to teach PDHPE would be an advantage.

Careers Facilitator Key Responsibilities include

  • Research and evaluate resource material, career information and diagnostic tools
  • Coordinate and provide the facilities, resources and materials required for understanding of study and training options
  • Promote student participation in industry, university and tertiary institution career events
  • Empower students with the skills to access information about the wide range of tertiary providers
  • Teach students to find information, make decisions and take action to build appropriate careers pathways
  • Manage data and documentation to ensure accurate records are maintained including detailed records on each student as they enter Year 10 and finish Year 12
  • Analyse whole school trends and data on tertiary offers and student choices
  • Undertake appropriate in-servicing to ensure that knowledge and skills remain up-to-date and relevant to student needs and curriculum support of colleagues
  • Assist students to:
    • identify and understand transferable skills
    • use the Job Guide for career research
    • complete a vocational test and reflect on the outcomes
    • demonstrate an understanding of pathways beyond year 12
    • develop a pathways portfolio / plan reflecting relevant choices beyond year 12
  • Broaden student knowledge of pathways and its implication for subject selection
  • Provide one to one and small group career advice
  • Facilitate transition from school, providing Year 12 students with course preference and change of course preference advice
