QLD Marine Manager

Sea Swift is Australia's largest privately and locally owned shipping company, providing marine freight and logistics services to Northern Australia and surrounding regions, including Far North Queensland, Cape York, Torres Strait, Northern Territory communities and coastal islands.

We are currently seeking applications for the following position located in our Cairns depot.

 Marine Manager QLD

Sea Swift Pty Ltd invite applications for the role of Marine Manager QLD. This is a senior role based in our Cairns office with responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of vessels on the coast of  Queensland from Townsville around to Karumba including the Torres Straits.

The following skills ,experience and qualifications are essential:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to think laterally in order to creatively expand opportunities whilst exploring operational enhancements
  • Excellent staff management skills with the ability to coach individuals and foster teamwork
  • Demonstrated superior ability to lead and motivate key personnel whilst monitoring and managing performance
  • Ability to work successfully with multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong networking abilities with a strong awareness of cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Currently qualified as AMSA Master Class 3, ideally with Pilotage exemptions for the ports of North Queensland.
  • Confident and experienced  in small vessel handling including Tug & Barge , and Landing Craft operations.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Management of the Marine Business Unit implementing  effective systems and processes to support and enhance Sea Swift operations, corporate requirements, legal, compliance ,governance and regulatory requirements,
  • Work closely with other Sea Swift Departments to deliver safe, timely and cost effective services to meet company and customers' expectations
  • Assist the General Manager Operations with the development of budget plans and regular forecasts
  • Manage expenditure within budget including:  wages and on costs , training, scheduled maintenance and equipment hire
  • Implement effective expenditure controls to ensure expenditure is maintained within allocated budget and established delegations
  • Ensure all Company policies are conveyed to the Marine team
  • Develop strong and sustainable relationships with governing and regulatory bodies
  • Provide concise and articulated direction to the Marine Masters through both one and one and regular management meetings.
  • Lead and motivate key personnel
  • Manage Probationary & Performance Reviews of Marine staff in conjunction with Vessel Masters & HR Staff.

You must be a Citizen of Australia, and currently residing in Australia to apply for this role.
