Network and Systems Engineer

Applications are invited for the position of Network and Systems Engineer to join the MSF Sugar Team. 

This role will be primarily based at MSF Sugar’s head office located at Mulgrave Mill in Gordonvale approximately 20km south of Cairns, with some inter-site travel required.

Reporting to the ICT Operations Manager, the Network and Systems Engineer will be accountable for design input, system administration, management and implementation of, security and core technology system services and cloud-based applications such as Microsoft 365.  This is a role for someone who likes being technically hands on and confident to deliver end to end on technical infrastructure projects but can bring to the table professional advice and recommendations.  Solid background and proficiency in cloud-based solutions, networking (wireless, LAN, WAN, Mobility) integration of IT and OT networks and Microsoft 365 architecture.

The ideal candidate is an all-rounder, results driven, detail oriented, approachable, customer-focused, innovator who thrives to want to help to improve processes, systems with a goal to satisfy the business needs.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus minimum of five (5) years hand-on experience is required. Industry Professional certifications are highly desired.
  • Strong understanding and application of information security practices and security solutions. Migration experience in cloud hosted/SaaS/web highly desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft 365 application administration and Cyber Security
  • Microsoft Azure Management
  • Advanced understanding of IP based platforms, network monitoring tools, networking products and technology for data, voice, mobility and wireless.
  • Infrastructure administration using VMWare, Veeam and SCCM applications
  • Database Administration - Provide technical support and advice to application developers in relation to the database environment
  • Demonstrated familiarity with supporting industrial networks and protocols supporting factory control systems.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.

Desirable

  • Experience in SD-WAN architecture
  • Experience in Microsoft Teams Voice
  • Experience in cross platform IT automation
