    • Part time (3 days), maximum term position commencing ASAP until 31 December 2020 with possibility for permanency thereafter

    Who We Are:

    Role Models and Leaders Australia (RMLA) has established Girls Academies in 43 high schools across WA, NT, NSW and QLD to support and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls in school. The Girls Academy focuses on increasing attendance, achievement Year 12 completion and successful transition to post-school opportunities for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls. The organisation supports these girls with an intensive face-to-face mentoring and support program delivered through a network of school-based Academies. We are the largest provider of these services in Australia and currently more than 2,800 girls take part in the program each year with this number expected to rise in 2020. RMLA is in an exciting growth phase and now is the time to join our team who are making a difference to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and their communities! 

    About the Role:

    The purpose of the Development Officer will be to focus on improving school attendance and engagement, the achievement of high school completion, and transition to employment, career and further education opportunities for Aboriginal girls. The Development Officer will manage and support program delivery and mentoring of girls at Dubbo College - Delroy Campus. This role will be a part time, maximum term commencing ASAP until 31 December 2020 with possibility for a permanent position thereafter.

    About You (Selection Criteria):

    • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and sustain productive relationships, within and beyond the school community.
    • Ability to communicate in verbal and written format effectively and sensitively with a variety of culturally and linguistically diverse people.
    • Ability to apply or willingness to develop an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social and cultural protocols, in a variety of individual and group settings with both young people and adults.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, design, implement/present and evaluate simple learning activities for students.
    • Demonstrated sound personal qualities of reliability and an ability to work with others both individually and as a member of a team.
    • Demonstrated skills in working with and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs.

    Documents Required:

    • Current driver’s licence
    • Current Police Clearance (not older than 3 months) or willing to obtain
    • Current and valid Working with Children Check – must be P not V
    • First aid certificate and bronze medallion or willing to obtain
