About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and deliver of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.    

The Aged Care and Disability Services team aims to provide support services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50 or living with a significant and/or permanent disability to be more independent and to actively participate in their communities. We have locations across the South East Queensland region including, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Hervey Bay.     

About the Role?
As the Disability Services Manager will lead the strategic initiatives of IUIH, with the development and establishment of the NDIS Service Delivery business model, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with a disability in South East Queensland. Leading a small team, the Disability Services Manager will also ensure day to day operations work effectively and efficiently to build key stakeholder and client positive relationships by effectively coaching motivating supporting team members to meet outcomes.   

Reporting to Senior Management, this role will lead in the development and establishment of the NDIS Service Delivery Implementation that will identify, recommend and establish:

  • Determining demand profile’s and service delivery models by service type
  • Establishing systems, policies and procedures to support implementation of quality services
  • Identifying and building client engagement and management processes
  • Management of workforce requirements and financial modelling of revenues and expenditures.            

The position will then, in line with the Implementation Plan, lead the establishment and roll out of NDIS Service Delivery operations including:

  • Ongoing business planning, review and reporting
  • Continued Client management
  • Delivery on Systems and Process management and Quality Compliance  

About You?

  • Experience working in the human services sector, including the facilitation of workshops for people with disability, communities and organisations
  • Strong connections and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and peoples in the designated service area
  • A thorough understanding of the eligibility and access requirements of the NDIS and experience in supporting vulnerable people navigate and access the scheme
  • An ability to liaise and work with local communities and relevant Government and non-Government organizations
  • Ability to implement systems, policies and procedures relating to the NDIS e.g. business planning, client management, quality compliance, workforce management
  • Experience leading a high performing team    
  • Desirable, but not mandatory:
  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
