About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and deliver of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland. 

The Aged Care and Disability Services team aims to provide support services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50 or living with a significant and/or permanent disability to be more independent and to actively participate in their communities. We have locations across the South East Queensland region including, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Hervey Bay.       

About the Role?

An opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist who specialises in Aged Care and Disability clientele to join the IUIH high performing team. Within this role, you will be providing individualised and/ or group programs designed to support individual through developmental programs and OT interventions as needed!

  • Demonstrated skill in working in a primary care setting with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a sound understanding of your role in the cycle of care for a client
  • Strong knowledge and experience of health related issues affecting the indigenous communities with a strong commitment to improving health outcomes
  • Commitment to the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control
  • Liaising with external providers and Queensland Health regarding services available and referral pathways  

About You?

  • Open to experienced Occupational therapist and recent graduates
  • Willingness to travel across the Hervey Bay region
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and self-starter capabilities
  • Current C Class Driver’s License (QLD)
  • Relevant degree in Occupational Therapy
  • APHRA Registration
  • Current First Aid and CPR  

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
