Luerssen Australia is a subsidiary of Lürssen, a 4th generation family-owned German company that builds Naval defence vessels and luxury yachts from its nine shipyards across Northern Germany.

Luerssen Australia is engaged as the prime contractor to build 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Department of Defence over a 12 year period. 

 

The successful applicant will be required to complete an Australian Defence Force Security Clearance process. Australian citizenship is therefore mandatory.

 

Please note: This role will be based in Perth.  The first three months will be spent in Adelaide while you undergo training.

 

Electrical Engineer

Role Responsibilities

  • Supports the project organisation in all questions regarding the construction in the field of building of our Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs)
  • Controls and monitors the component suppliers within the Lürssen PS-System
  • Coordinates requirements (technology, time and costs) of the project between the technical department and vice versa
  • Coordinates specifications relating to electrical design
  • Performs basic engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of higher-level engineers in the development of system and technical products
  • Collect information and data, performance of various tests and engineering computations, measurements and analysis
  • Leads and coordinates communication between the technical department and other key stakeholders
  • Ensures effective working relationships are built and maintained with other departments and stakeholders
  • Promote strong culture of customer focus and stakeholder engagement

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Electrical design experience is essential
  • Shipbuilding experience (highly desirable)
  • Project-based work experience
  • Ability to understand technical drawings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills

This is a hands-on role for someone who is solutions and outcomes focused.
