About the role

 

Responsibilities

  • Developing business plans, budgets and strategies for consideration by the Board and, to the extent approved by the Board, implementing these plans, budgets and strategies; 
  • Ensuring IHM's operations and business are within the parameters set by the Board from time to time and will be in charge of the material developments in IHM's affairs, operations and business; 
  • Identifying and managing operational and corporate risks for IHM and, where those risks could have a material impact on IHM, formulating strategies for managing and mitigating those risks;
  • Managing IHM's financial and other reporting mechanisms, and control and monitoring systems, to ensure that these mechanisms and systems capture all relevant material information on a timely basis, are functioning effectively and are founded on a sound basis foundation prudential risk management; 
  • Implementing the policies, processes and codes of conduct approved by the Board and facilitating the monitoring and reviewing of, and reporting against, those policies, procedures and code of conduct; 
  • Providing management oversight and responsibility across IHM to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of IHM.

 

Skills and experience

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a master's qualification (preferably with a PhD in a related field) 

 Experience, knowledge and skills 

Demonstrated ability in the following areas: 

  • Management experience in higher education or a related field (including marketing, financial, human resources, technology, information and infrastructure areas) 

  • Commercial executive experience within the complex industry and regulatory environments 

  • Academic, professional and industry credibility 

  • Ability to engage with education and professional associations, industry and employers 

  • Success with people leadership, fostering resilience, excellence, diversity, collegiality and inclusion, and driving achievement and outcomes 

  • Interpersonal and political networking skills 

  • Knowledge of national and international educational contexts 

  • Ability to influence and gain the respect of peers 

  • Organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Change leadership and management skills 

Desirable 

  • Experience in managing and mentoring staff 

  • Appropriate professional body memberships 

  • Interpersonal and stakeholder skills to build commitment to a shared vision 

  • High written and oral communication, and presentation skills 

  • Professional integrity, ethical conduct and resilience
