At VAE Group we provide smarter HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Solutions and Building Intelligence Technology.  Our Groups capacity and competency extends across the entire commercial building and property technology sectors within Australia, New Zealand and Asian markets.  Founded in 1997, the group of companies has grown rapidly over the past 8 years and has now grown to over 300 employees across 9 operating locations.

Due to our rapid growth across Australia, New Zealand and into Papua New Guinea, VAE Group is now seeking high calibre Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join our team.


The Role

The COO role is a key member of the executive management team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) based at our Brisbane Head Office. You’ll have to maintain control of construction and service-based business operations in 9 locations, so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader. You will be decisive and a problem solver.

The goal of the COO position is to maintain the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth, whilst ensuring VAE maintains its company values, culture and brand promise of providing our clients “Built in Certainty”.

The Responsibilities 

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the execution of strategies developed by the executive management team.
  • Working together with key participants to establish goals for performance and growth.
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision.
  • Driving daily operations of the company to surpass customer satisfaction and retention, and company goals.
  • Employing various initiatives to coach employees to optimize their capabilities.
  • Evaluating performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Assessing and implementing improved processes and new technologies and collaborating with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, joint venture alliances etc.)
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven record in managing the operations of a large growing construction and service -based company.
  • A proven record of managing complex budgets effectively.
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, and experience working with staff on all levels.
  • Ability to make business projections based on industry trends and cycles.
  • 5+ years’ experience in executive leadership positions.
  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.
