Western Diagnostic Pathology (WDP) provides diagnostic pathology services to more than two million patients throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory each year.  We have ten medical laboratories across the region, more than 200 collection sites, and a team of nearly 1000 people who are dedicated to providing quality care to patients and accurate and timely results to medical practitioners.  We pride ourselves on our commitment to research, innovation, and continuous improvement.

In order to deliver a superior service to patients and practitioners across Western and Central Australia,  we need a passionate team of talented professionals who are committed to working with us to build strong relationships with medical practitioners by putting them, and the patients they represent, at the centre of everything we do.

Reporting to the Collections Team Leader, we are currently seeking Pathology Collectors to join our team.  This role is responsible for collection of blood and specimens from patients in an accurate, professional and timely manner.  This role is Monday to Friday with a requirement to participate in a weekend roster.  We will consider both full-time or part-time appointments for the right candidates.

To be successful in this role, your background will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in pathology collection, with a high level of sample-taking skills
  • Previous demonstrated experience delivering an exceptional patient experience
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A high rate of accuracy and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to interpret medical or clinical information
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required, including weekends and public holidays if required

It will be considered highly advantageous for applicants to hold the following qualifications or skills:

  • Certificate III in Pathology Collection
  • HLTPAT005 Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse testing
  • Current First aid certificate
  • Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office

Please note, all appointments are made subject to the candidate providing Hep B, dTpa, MMR and Varicella Immunisation records.
