Respiratory Specimen Collector

Western Diagnostic Pathology (WDP) provides diagnostic pathology services to more than two million patients throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory each year.  We have 10 medical laboratories across the region, more than 200 collection sites, and a team of nearly 1000 people who are dedicated to providing quality care to patients, and accurate and timely results to medical practitioners.  We pride ourselves on our commitment to research, innovation, and continuous improvement.

We know that in order to deliver a superior service to patients and practitioners across western and central Australia, we need a passionate team of talented professionals who are committed to working with us to build strong relationships with medical practitioners by putting them, and the patients they represent, at the centre of everything we do.

We are seeking expressions of interest for Casual Respiratory Specimen Collectors in temporary fixed term contract roles to work across various locations in and around Perth, regional WA & NT.  In this role you will be collecting respiratory samples in full PPE, for which training will be provided.  You will be working within respiratory clinics, drive-through collection sites and visiting clients & patients at various locations. A current driver’s licence is a requirement as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

To be successful in this role, your background will demonstrate:

  • Experience in pathology collection, with a high level of sample-taking skills
  • Previous demonstrated experience delivering exceptional patient care
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • A high rate of accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to interpret medical or clinical information
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required, including weekends and public holidays

It will be considered highly advantageous for applicants to hold the following qualifications or skills:

 

  • Certificate III in Pathology Collection
  • HLTPAT005 Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse testing
  • Current First aid certificate
  • Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office

Please note, all appointments are made subject to the candidate providing Hep B, dTpa, MMR, Varicella and Influenza vaccination Immunisation records.
