The Position

The College is currently seeking a Special Education/Support Teacher who is passionate about working with students of all abilities.

The primary responsibility of the Special Education Teacher is to support students who have learning difficulties, and to provide support, specifically in reading and writing.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) position. Applicants must be available to work over a seven day fortnight (weekdays, during school hours).

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Work with teachers to modify the student's learning program.
  • Provide support for the student to complete class requirements and school assessed course work.
  • Liaise with the student's teachers in all subject areas.
  • Provide on-going advice and support for the student in the areas of organisation and homework management.

 

Role Requirements

  •  Experience with the secondary school curriculum - English is essential.
  •  Solid experience in teaching across a range of year levels/capability levels.
  •  Have an understanding of different teaching methodologies.
  •  Sound ability to assist students with additional needs.
  •  Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Current VIT registration is essential.
