YMCA WA Kalgoorlie offers an extensive range of youth programs which have been specifically designed for Goldfields Youth. The youth programs mainly focus on transitioning phases and lifestyle development, while working to assist youth in gaining valuable life and employable skills.

About the Role

YMCA WA is currently recruiting a Casual Youth Engagement Officer. This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of high quality, social and recreationally-based programs that engage, support and connect young people in the communities in which the YMCA WA Operates. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.

Duties

  • Facilitate social and recreation programs which proactively engage young people aged 10-18 years in an outreach setting.
  • Provide youth work support for program participants including informal counselling and making referrals to other community agencies as required.
  • Assist young people to develop positive lifestyle skills
  • Administrative tasks including reports and case notes
  • Assist Youth Workers and/or Manager to monitor needs to research, plan and implement new activity programs

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualification and/ or equivalent experience
  • Current and valid National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, Provide First Aid Certificate and Drivers licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with young people
  • Ability to work autonomously to achieve set outcomes
  • Well-developed computer literacy and written skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people and services from a variety of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Proven ability in establishing and maintaining reporting procedures
