Kidman & Co Pty Ltd and Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd Services, has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and safety conscious Bore Runner to join the operations at Aroona Station. The position is available for immediate commencement.

Hancock Agriculture has a long and proud history in Agriculture. With over 30 properties across Australia, spanning 10 million hectares, we are one of the country’s largest producers of beef with a herd of over 320,000.

About the Property

Aroona Station is situated in the Katherine Region of the Northern Territory. The property encompasses 147,510 hectares of Northern Savana landscapes and is home to a predominantly Brahman herd of cattle.

The Aroona Homestead is welcoming with expansive lawns, shady trees and air-conditioned accommodation. The team at Aroona enjoys a friendly and supportive workplace where career and personal growth is encouraged. Industry professionals conduct various training activities during the course of the year, ensuring everyone receives the best opportunity to develop their skills and further their career in the industry.

About the Role

Reporting to the Station Manager, this is a varied role with duties including but not limited to the following:

  • Checking station watering points
  • Maintaining water facilities and pipelines
  • Trough and fencing repairs
  • General vehicle and workshop maintenance
  • Assisting with maintenance and improvement of station infrastructure
  • Assisting with all facets of cattle husbandry and processing.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in a similar role/station environment, including working with cattle in a calm and controlled manner
  • Sound mechanical knowledge of Kubota motors and pumps
  • Fencing, stock water and general maintenance skills
  • Competent operation of various station machinery/equipment and carrying out basic servicing & maintenance
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform under limited supervision
  • Literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to comprehend operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and procedures
  • Hold a current Drivers Licence (truck licence an advantage)
  • Ability to care take the homestead in the absence of other Station employees.
  • Have a genuine desire for living and working in a remote rural location.
