Your new role as a catering assistant/kitchen hand within the catering team is a pivotal part of the Coffs Haven Residential Care Services' dedicated but efficient care, lifestyle and hospitality team.  As a catering assistant/kitchen hand you will be responsible for enhancing residents’ dining experience by ensuring and maintaining a personalised and customer-focused approach while maintaining food safety practices in line with regulations.  You will be reporting to the Manager of Residential Services and working with the care, health and hospitality team.  

 Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a varied and nutritional food service, which meets the needs of the aged residents within the residential aged care setting;
  • Providing excellent personalised service to our residents;
  • Preparation of meals and drinks;
  • Distribution of meals to residents, assisting the chef with meal preparation, cleaning and general kitchen duties;
  • Dining room services;
  • Completion of documentation;
  • Ensuring that services provided are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Fresh Hope Care.

To be successful in your new role you will need to demonstrate:

  • A minimum Certificate III in Hospitality (or equivalent) and/or three (3) years’ experience in catering/ hospitality;
  • Experience in providing meal preparation and dining room services, which meet the needs of residents within the residential aged care setting (desirable);
  • Knowledge and understanding of infection control, manual handling and hazard identification; 
  • Knowledge and understanding of dietary requirements for residents; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles;
  • Be a team player, positive and a can-do attitude;
  • Experience in supervision of staff and working in a production kitchen, will be highly regarded.
  • A current National Criminal History Record Check suitable for aged care (or willingness to obtain) is essential.

Remuneration is based on the current Fresh Hope Care Residential Enterprise Agreement 2017.  As an additional benefit there is a tax-free component of your remuneration available under the Public Benevolent Institution.
