The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) operates as a division of St Vincent’s Institute whose mission is to improve the health of the community by prevention, detection, or better treatment of common diseases. NRL was established as part of the Australian Government’s HIV and AIDS strategy. Contracted today by the Dept Health and licensed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), NRL undertakes scientific activities that support the accurate diagnosis and management of human communicable diseases, including HIV, COVID-19, HCV and HTLV. NRL provides unique and specialised services, including pre- and post-market evaluations of serology test kits, quality assurance programmes, specialised testing services, consultation, education and training for laboratories in Australia and worldwide.
NRL is currently seeking a full time Quality and Risk Manager to provide oversight of Quality Management frameworks, Regulatory Affairs and Risk Management of NRL services. As a member of NRL’s senior management team, the role includes providing strategic and operational oversight of our quality management policy and systems, legislative compliance, industry standards, guidelines and various levels of accreditation.
You will maintain the group’s primary relationship with TGA, NATA and BSI and manage the external and internal cycle of quality audits.
On a day to day basis you will be responsible the supervision of the quality and safety team and for all quality and safety documentation and records.
The Quality and Risk Manager also acts as the management representative for staff safety and safe workplace practices for the group, as part of SVI’s overarching OHS framework.
You will hold tertiary qualifications in science, with extensive experience in a scientific laboratory environment, ideally within a serology, infectious diseases or manufacturing setting. You will have successfully led quality management frameworks and compliance processes. You will possess a depth of expertise in the application and management of NATA, ISO, ISI, GMP and/or other similar quality standards, as well as risk and safety frameworks.
Ultimately to succeed in this role you will demonstrate the ability to successfully engage, influence and lead others through a positive culture of quality and continuous improvement, which is neither burdensome nor complex.

Annual Salary range: $112,00 to $130,000 depending on relevant experience (includes generous $15,900 FBT-exempt salary packaging component) plus 9.5% Super
