Our Getaway centre in Labrador is a newly established facility with modern, high quality equipment. This centre offers customers the opportunity to have a short break with their friends and peers in the heart of the Gold Coast, with easy access to theme parks, beaches, shopping and restaurants.

Multiple Roles Available for Direct Support Workers

We are looking to hire suitably qualified and/or experienced Direct Support Workers on a casual basis to provide 24 hour support and community access to customers during their stay at ‘Our Getaway’ centre located at Labrador on the Gold Coast.

You must have the availability to work flexible working hours including early starts, late finishes, awake shifts (10pm-7am) & sleepovers and be available at short notice. These roles are due to commence from late August.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide physical and personal care to customers.
  • General light domestic duties.
  • Assisting customers to attain their goals.
  • Maintain customer progress notes.
  • Communicate with supervisors and peers.
  • Maintain customer and family confidentiality.
  • Providing assistance on a casual basis/ up to but not limited to 3 days a week.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum Cert III in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical requirements of providing support as a Direct Support Worker.
  • Highly motivated and caring individual.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • This role requires a current working with children (blue card) and be eligible to apply for a working an exemption notice (yellow card) through The Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors.
  • A current drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and practice.
  • Capacity to assist in all duties and be confident to do so autonomously.
  • General computer skills and a high level of energy & enthusiasm towards the work you do.
  • Available for immediate start/ to commence at a short notice.
