Luerssen Australia is a subsidiary of Lürssen, a 4th generation family-owned German company that builds naval defence vessels and luxury yachts from its nine shipyards across Northern Germany.

 

Luerssen Australia is engaged as the prime contractor to build 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Department of Defence over a 12 year period. 

 

The successful applicant will be required to complete an Australian Defence Force Security Clearance process.  You must therefore be an Australian Citizen to apply for this role.

This role will initially be based in Adelaide for up to two years before transferring to Perth for the life of the Project.

 

Project Performance – Project Cost Analyst

The Project Cost Analyst conducts Project Cost Analyst activities for Luerssen Australia to ensure the Project's objectives are met in terms of Cost Control and to participate in tracking and reporting the Project's deliverables and targets. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement on the integrated project controls processes and systems in a manner that supports Luerssen Australia’s internal requirements as well as those of their contracts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup of the Luerssen Australia and subcontractor cost management and reporting processes with the requirement to meet the EVMP & EVMS of the contract (ASDEFCON)
  • Contribute to promote an Earned Value Management (EVM) culture within the project team.
  • Assist Control Account Managers (CAMs) with monthly cost monitoring, analysis and reporting of actuals and forecast cost (EAC) and deviation preparation.
  • Provide general support to the Project Controls Team and CAMs with EVM Reporting, project status reports and other related activities.
  • Assist in maintaining project performance change control (Baseline Change Management), including maintenance of contractual payment milestone registers.
  • Conduct routine tasks including processing of baseline change requests; documenting of variance analysis; collecting and uploading actual costs, schedule progress information and forecasts; initiating journal requests; performing project cost reconciliations; etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of Program Monthly (cost, schedule, EV and variance) Reports for internal review.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Project Performance Manager.
  • Conduct regular reconciliation activities for payment milestones

Role Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent Project Controls experience, ideally within Defence or major projects (Desirable).
  • Strong understanding of Project Accounting, with a sound knowledge of Earned Value Management
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experienced with Cobra, SAP or other related cost tools is desired (training will be provided if necessary)
  • Experience in project cost setup, analysis and management (for example Earned Value Management (EVM) Systems and tools).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop process documentation.
  • Has exemplary communication skills showcasing your ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the company across WA and SA.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management systems
  • High level analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines
