Site Technical Manager

THE ROLE reports to the Group Technical Manager and manages a local team of QA Officers, based at our Riverwood production facility.

 

Key Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Lead, influence and coach the Sydney site Operations through the Company Food Safety and Quality System
  • Support the Group Technical Manager with national initiatives
  • Lead, Train and Develop the Sydney QA team
  • Analyse and continuously improve on site Food Safety regulatory/certification/customer/policy compliance and to close any quality/safety gaps
  • Prepare the site for regulatory and customer audits
  • Lead internal and external technical audits/customer visits
  • Manage customer technical enquiries and expectations
  • Reporting of KPI's
  • Drive food product safety innovations
  • Support NPD team through all stages of product development; ensuring ingredient/nutrition compliance against regulatory and customer requirements; contributing to feasibility studies and design/development of product packaging & labelling; and by coordinating QA resource for projects and trials
  • Deliver Training on food safety, quality assurance and good hygiene practices

 

 SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary (or equivalent) qualifications in Food Science/Technology/Quality Management
  • Lead Auditor qualification
  • Minimum 7 years strong Technical experience in the fresh chilled or short life food production industry, with minimum 3 years’ experience in managing a QA team in an FMCG environment
  • Sound working knowledge in GMP/HACCP practices and standards
  • Competency in leading internal & external technical/customer audits 
  • Demonstrable experience in NPD work
  • Background in labelling legislation desirable

 

Skills:

  • Team building, and team-oriented – able to foster effective engagements and collaborations within the QA team, as well as cross functionally with Operations and other stakeholders
  • Strong desire to contribute to the site performance and success
  • As a leader for the NSW Quality team, to be able to inspire and manage the team to attain and exceed set quality compliance targets
  • Decision making
  • Problem solving
  • Effective verbal and listening communication and excellent written communication skills to drive quality and safety initiatives to all stakeholders
  • High attention to details
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Time Management
  • Ability to adapt to new work cultures, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Dedicated professional with a strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude
  • Professional presentation and decorum
