Regional Manager - Perth South

About Us

WA Primary Health Alliance shapes, strengthens and sustains a health system that works for people, to achieve better healthcare — particularly for those at risk of poor health outcomes.

As part of the Australian Government’s Primary Health Network initiative, we operate across the state, improving access to healthcare that is fit for the future.

Our role is to work with our partners to develop a health system that works for people, ensuring they can access excellent care closer to home. We do this by looking system-wide at gaps and identifying opportunities to improve the way things work. We invest in important primary care services and encourage innovation in the delivery of care.

The role

The Regional Manager - Perth South will be responsible for fostering a collaborative and integrated stakeholder engagement presence as the senior representative of WA Primary Health Alliance for the Perth South Metro region; ensuring service provision contract deliverables and services are met. This position supports and sustains Perth South PHN activities.

This is your opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, where you have the opportunity to make a difference in the health outcomes of people living in Perth's South.

This is a full time position until 30th June 2021, with two Regional Coordinators directly reporting to the role.

The Regional Manager's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging clinicians and local communities in commissioning services to meet place-based needs and reduce potentially preventable hospitalisations and re-admissions;
  • Leading and coordinating the local place-based staff and activities to achieve WAPHA’s goals and objectives, providing input to operational planning and maximising the efficient use of all resources;
  • Reviewing financial expenditure and working with the relevant PHN manager to ensure expenditure is within the allocated place-based budget;
  • Strengthening commissioning arrangements and securing high quality healthcare services through effective contract management, managing contract negotiations and developing effective relationships with stakeholders;
  • Reviewing and managing contract performance and deliverables against the contract schedule and outcomes framework, working with providers to address issues when required, and identifying contract variations where required;
  • Designing and scoping activities to meet needs, through co-design with providers where appropriate;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with providers, and facilitating linkages between providers to support integration.

About you

The successful candidate will meet the following selection criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in health or human services or equivalent;
  • Sound experience working within primary health care and the Perth South region;
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate with a range of stakeholders and not-for-profit organisations including a demonstrated ability to communicate with and present to diverse groups;
  • Knowledge and awareness of access to primary health care services in and around the Perth South region;
  • High level understanding of the health system, both in WA and on a national scale including current trends in health policy reform and health care funding programs;
  • Experience working with culturally diverse groups, particularly indigenous people;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a demonstrated report writing ability;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • High level of computer literacy included proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience leading a team and working with community-based organisations in the health sector is desirable
