Banking Officer - Operations

China Merchants Bank established in 1987 in Shenzhen, the forefront of China's reform and opening-up drive, CMB is China's first joint-stock commercial bank and also the first bank to attend the national experiment for the promotion of China's banking industry reform driven by endeavours from outside the government. After conducting years of market research regarding the Bank's expansion in Australia, CMB became the first non-state-owned Chinese commercial bank to seek ADI authorization in Australia. Overseas expansion is one of the Bank's global strategic objectives and CMB considers this a long term commitment. Currently we are looking for a Banking Operations Officer with one year experience to join our Sydney Branch.

Responsibilities include:

  • Opening, closing of accounts and handling deposits;
  • Client on-boarding and KYC processing;
  • Handling inward/outward local clearing via agency arrangement;
  • Process inward/outward telegraphic transfers;
  • Treasury back office duties including confirmation, matching and settlements;
  • Loan back office duties including drawdown, settlement and interest/fee management;
  • Filing, update registers and report generations;
  • Other duties as instructed by Manager/Supervisor;
  • Relieve other banking officers or trade service officers time to time.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • One year experience as banking officer role with sound knowledge of banking products;
  • Local and international clearing understanding including SWIFT, RITS, Austraclear;
  • Experiences in trade services preferred and experiences in accounting, settlement or area are desirable;
  • Comprehensive service awareness and communication skills;
  • Proficient in relative business and prudential working style;
  • Desire to excel in current tasks and willingness to learn other duties;
  • Ability to work with a team to achieve department objectives;
  • Understanding of customer service with vision to innovate who can communicate with clients directly in order to develop and manage relationships in a competitive environment;
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin oral and written skills are required.
