This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and creative Sous Chef, (or Chef wishing to take the next step) to join our talented kitchen team.  Our winery restaurant is situated in the renowned gourmet region of King Valley – North East Victoria.

About Us: Brown Family Wine Group, an innovative family-owned multi brand wine business, is one of Australia’s most loved and trusted wine brands.  We are in an exciting period of transition as we continue to expand, having recently grown to five brands - Brown Brothers, Devil's Corner, Pirie, Tamar Ridge and most recently Innocent Bystander. We are passionate about our wines and our core values of Wellbeing, Respect, Innovation and Pride in What We Achieve Together.  Most recently we have been certified as "A Great Place to Work" and are committed to honouring this recognition throughout all aspects of the business.

Situated in the picturesque King Valley, which is a renowned tourist destination recognised for its outstanding food and wines, Brown Brother’s host approximately 100,000 visitors per year, with Patricia’s Table Restaurant being central to our offer.

The Role: Supporting the Head Chef, this role offers the successful candidate a strong mix of menu development, food preparation and people supervision. In a nonhierarchical environment this position allows for a motivated candidate to assist in the development of menus that enhance our varietal wines and maximize the best of our available regional produce. Our food offer is based around organic produce grown in our new on-site commercial kitchen garden.

Major responsibilities of the role:

  • In the absence of the Head Chef, work with the Cellar Door and Restaurant Manager and Weddings and Functions Coordinator to oversee the preparation and service of all meals across the Milawa site.
  • Working closely with the Weddings and Functions Coordinator, you will be fully responsible for all on-site wedding functions – control, run and manage all kitchen aspects.
  • Work closely with Restaurant Supervisor and Weddings and Function Coordinator to ensure customers’ expectations are met.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment and facilities are kept in good working order.

To Be Successful: You will be a qualified Chef with previous experience in staff supervision. Your ability to motivate and communicate at all levels is important, as is an outgoing personality and sense of humour. You must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays and some evenings.

What’s on Offer:
