Business Development Manager, Renewable Energy and Mobility

The Business Development Manager, Renewable Energy & Mobility will be responsible for attracting investment, growing exports and driving job growth to South Australia. The successful applicant will bring an understanding of technologies and trends related to the renewable energy and transport/mobility sector.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in business development with highly developed skills in key account and relationship management.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience and networks across the renewable energy & mobility industry business development, including Electric Vehicles (EV) and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).

Who are we:
 A strong economic future for South Australia depends on growing exports and inbound investment. Focused on the South Australian Government’s nine priority sectors, including Renewable Energy & Mobility, the Department for Trade and Investment (DTI) attracts international investment and works with South Australian businesses to increase international engagement and boost exports.

DTI supports businesses to connect with overseas markets, create strong international relationships and capitalise on export opportunities, while at the same time, strengthening the South Australian economy through investment attraction and job creation.

The Role:
Working closely with the Director, Minerals & Energy and in close collaboration with several South Australian Government departments, this is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to join our dedicated Minerals & Energy team. The Business Development Manager, Renewable Energy & Mobility will attract international renewable energy & mobility companies to South Australia and assist South Australian companies to access international markets thereby directly contributing to growing South Australia’s renewable energy & mobility economy.

This role reports directly to the Director Minerals & Energy and will require:

  • Significant experience in renewable energies integrated with transport and mobility sub sectors including electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles
  • Extensive knowledge of key national and international trends and influences in the renewable energy, technology and integration into the transport and mobility sub-sector that affect the State’s economy, trade, investment, labour market and business growth.

About You:
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the following selection criteria:

  • The ability to think commercially, strategically and creatively to analyse and resolve complex business challenges
  • The ability to conduct market research and gap analysis to find areas of competitive strength and growth potential and investment opportunities for South Australia in the renewable energy and technology sector
  • Proven experience in assessing market intelligence on export and investment opportunities and trends, monitor economic performance of companies and industries at state, national and global levels.
  • Exercise a high level of judgement, have the ability to determine goals and priorities and operate under broad direction
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills, the ability to manage expectations and work as part of a team
  • Be outcomes focused with a highly developed entrepreneurial drive
  • Substantial experience in the preparation of high quality, complex written and verbal briefings.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in business, commerce, commercialisation, engineering, renewable technologies and transport/mobility sectors using renewable energy
  • Experience in trade and investment project delivery
  • International commercial networks across the renewable energy, hydrogen and electric vehicle industry.

Special Conditions

  • Fixed term contract for up to 2 years
  • Out of hours work may be required
  • Intrastate, interstate and international travel may be required
  • Successful applicants will be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.

Remuneration:
ASO8: $114,000 - $118,400
