Technical Support Officer

About the role

The Information Services team is seeking a qualified and motivated Technical Support Officer to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis (35 hours per week).


Duties

Reporting directly to the Unit Manager – IT Support, the focus of this position is to:

  • Provide IT Support Level 1 and Level 2 to Council staff through face to face, telephone and remote management.
  • Assist / Escalate issues referred to Level 3 technical support.
  • Contribute to the configuration, functionality and improvement of the Support Desk Tools.
  • Administer Council's corporate computer systems to satisfy users requirements, user and group security and file system integrity and security.
  • Support, Install and Administer computer hardware, operating systems, networking and major application packages.
  • Deliver services in compliance with established SLAs
  • Communicate and liaise appropriately with all users and external support providers to resolve operational and expert system issues.
  • Assist, as required, in maintaining Council’s LAN and WAN environments and network/security equipment.
  • Provide basic training to users on PC based applications.
  • Mobile Device Management (iOS and Android Mobile Phones and Tablets).
  • Provision and deploy mobile devices (Phones and Tablets)
  • Ensure the security and legality of software and operating system all PC systems.
  • Assist with the implementation and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity procedures to ensure a continuous provision and recovery of IT service
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of User FAQ & IT Knowledge Base.
  • Liase with vendors for the provision of support and procurement of hardware and software products.
  • Record details of software applications, hardware systems and system user details for inclusion in the Information Technology database and other Council systems.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Information Systems related discipline and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying computers, create, package and deploy software, change management and manage users and equipment in a large and complex networked environment.
  • Current Class C Driver's License
  • Previous experience in an ICT service environment using service desk software.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange technologies.
  • Basic understanding of Client/Server and Virtualisation technologies.
  • Basic understanding of network technologies.
  • Basic understanding of Disk storage and backup technologies.
  • Basic understanding of mobile device management technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience to diagnose, resolve and report on complex hardware, software and network problems.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting VOIP Telephone system including underlying infrastructure and components
