About Eco Outdoor

Eco Outdoor specialises in the supply of natural outdoor flooring and walling treatments and outdoor furniture for residential and commercial design projects. For us, innovative outdoor design is always about creating a genuine connection between the natural raw materials found in any landscape and the purposeful use of space.

When it comes to external surface treatments, we're devoted to leading the market with innovative, natural and considered design solutions. We're committed to natural organic style products because we believe they maintain the integrity of the landscape and we're excited about working with architects and designers to really push the boundaries of external design.

We’re a young management team [although sadly for us, probably not as young are you are] we’ve got a load of energy, a great business and we’re about to hit our straps as we take the business to the next level. If you’d like to be part of building something, say hello. We’ve been doing this for 20 years and we know the only way to get great staff is to pay them well and provide good career progression. Pretty simple really.

About the Role

This entry level role is suited to a bright, committed and passionate individual who is looking for a varied finance role and shows high levels of initiative and a keen attitude to learn. As a member of the Finance team, you’ll need to be confident in managing customer service enquiries, managing accounts receivable and accounts payables, as well as providing general support to both the Finance team and non-financial stakeholders of all levels.

This is not a back office finance role and you will be expected to interact with the business on a daily basis to ensure we are getting the right data and inputs to our financial workings, as well as ensuring the information we provide to the business is useful and continues to adapt to business needs.

As part of this role you will be expected to work closely with non-financial stakeholders to gather financial information, ensure the inputs you process are correct/coded properly and you’ll be expected to get involved with month end, reporting and other ad hoc projects.

This role will provide excellent development opportunities to focus on the key areas of the business and will add financial and commercial stripes to any aspiring finance professional.  You will be working in a team environment reporting to experienced managers who will train and mentor you to further develop your career.  You will be encouraged and supported in undertaking the CA or CPA program (this includes Eco Outdoor covering the cost of your studies).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Full function accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Processing of invoices
  • Bank reconciliations weekly and monthly
  • Various cost allocation processes
  • Assist with fixed assets management
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • General accounting and ad hoc tasks

Other Tasks:

There are several other tasks which will also fall within this role which are part and parcel of working in a small finance team, some of which are regular and some of which are ad hoc in nature.  These include process improvement, improvements to current reporting practices and maximising the usefulness of our ERP system NetSuite, all with the overall goal of supporting the growing Eco Outdoor business.

Skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance; or in the process of completion
  • Already started or looking to commence CA/CPA qualifications
  • Strong academics through your education history
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in accounting principles \
  • 3 to 6 months experience in a similar finance function carrying out key accounting tasks (desirable)
  • Experience of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable is an advantage
  • Strong computer skills, particularly accounting systems and/or MS Excel
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly with numbers, and a high degree of accuracy
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • High levels of initiative with the ability to work independently
  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to create rapport with external stakeholders
  • A team player with the ability to work within a small and dynamic team
  • Willingness to learn

We’d like to meet you if:

  • You are constantly hungry to learn and grow and have plenty of energy and enthusiasm
  • You’re not looking to simply sit out the back and crunch numbers – you want a role where you can clearly see the impact of your work and can influence the operations of the business
  • You have a desire to develop both your financial and commercial acumen and take the next step in your career

What's in it for you:

People are the most important asset we have in our business. You spend more time at work than you do at home, so we want to make sure you feel supported, challenged and excited to be here. We don't believe in red tape and encourage our people to work out how they perform best, so as long as what you want to do isn't too expensive or illegal, we'll ask you to just give it a go.

Employee learning & development and health & wellness underpin our employee programs, aimed at ensuring you can 'grow your own' and get what you need to have the career you want with us.
