Learning Support Assistant

St Andrew's School, Walkerville is an Anglican Independent Co-Educational Specialist Primary School covering Early Learning to Year 7.  After 170 years we are proud of our exceptional student outcomes, rich history and strong community.

The School is seeking two highly skilled Learning Support Assistants who have experience and understanding of Early Years and Primary pedagogical principles and are willing to become active members of the School staff. Both positions will be based in Junior Primary.

Learning Support Assistant –  Working 32.5 hours per week, term time only. This position is for Semester 1 and will be reviewed after 6 months. This position is ideally suited for someone with understanding and experience of working with children with additional needs, including trauma informed needs.

Learning Support Assistant – 12 month contract, working 26 hours per week, term time only.

The successful applicants will be motivated to create dynamic environments that ensure every child achieves beyond their perceived potential, competent in the creation of inquiry-based learning and energised by working with talented staff in a future focused school.

Candidates will be required to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Hold a current Working with Children check
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised and willing to contribute within a Team environment
  • Highly focused on achieving student outcomes to develop the whole child
  • Experience supporting students with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Supportive of independent education and the School's Anglican ethos
  • Supportive of the Reggio Emilia educational principles and  inquiry-based learning
  • Proven experience and skills to support students with Autism are highly desirable
  • Proven experience and skills to support students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect are highly desirable
  • Knowledge of the IB PYP and Early Years Learning framework (EYLF) are desirable
  • Knowledge of evidence-based intervention programs (e.g. MiniLit) are desirable
  • Use best endeavours to maintain, promote and advance the reputation and the success of the School
