The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is the peak representative body of the state’s minerals and energy sector. The Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) is the education arm of QRC.
The QMEA consists of 80 schools and provides a range of experiences to approximately 5,000 students annually to raise their awareness of the resources sector and associated career pathways. The QRC is seeking applications for the position of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Engagement Officer for an immediate start.
As the QMEA STEM Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the QRC Manager Skills and Education and other QMEA team members in the delivery of discreet projects in addition to workshops, activities and presentations to engage high school students into STEM pathways in the resources sector. Experience in the use of digital technologies to support this role will be highly regarded.
You will have had a background in one or more STEM fields through tertiary study and/or employment, be confident working in a school laboratory setting and have excellent communication skills that will excite and engage students in STEM and its career pathways.
QMEA discreet projects that you will coordinate include the organisation and delivery of the very successful GIRLS Mentoring Program and coordination of the production of educational resources that sit on the national QRC-led Oresome Resources educational website.
As a highly organised, vibrant and enthusiastic presenter, you will be required to have a demonstrated ability or the capability to work successfully in a high performing team, with schools and preferably industry.
This role is a full-time, permanent position based in Brisbane and requires regular travel throughout the state to schools located near resource sector operations.
