About Catalyze

Catalyze makes significant contributions to decision-making across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors – transforming the way the world makes decisions that matter, bringing confidence and clarity to every decision.

  • Catalyze is a boutique strategic management consultancy headquartered in Sydney, Australia with clients and offices in Australia and New Zealand.

  • We are world leading and sought-after independent experts in the fields of Decision Thinking and Decision Science.

  • Catalyze was founded in 2001 in association with the London School of Economics.

Our team currently consists of seven professionals from diverse backgrounds and experience, united by a common mission to apply Decision Thinking to solve tricky problems.  We love creating opportunities, delivering value and delighting clients which means our team will grow significantly over the next few years – starting now!

Purpose of position

Our Consultants play a critical role in contributing to the success and evolution of Catalyze as a growing boutique management consultancy.

Our Consultants are responsible for:

  • Delivering services that support our client engagements

  • Supporting our Principal consultants and Directors

  • Contributing to the growth and evolution of Catalyze.

We are looking for motivated and capable people to join our growing team as either Canberra-based or Wellington-based consultants.

How we Work

We are client focussed, passionate about what we do and keen on building the capability and capacity of our team.  We routinely invest in upskilling our people.

Our clients are Government Departments and Agencies, Corporates and leading Not for Profits. We work with organisations committed to making informed decisions in the face of often constrained and finite resources - whether money, time, or people - to produce the greatest value, positive outcomes and impact for all. By all, we mean our clients and those they serve; citizens, communities, teams and customers.

We solve hard problems for and with our clients - day in and day out. Problems of investment, return, constraints of any nature, strategy, performance, complexity, systems, capability, tough decisions, even simply, a lack of clarity … and more.

After years of experience, it is crystal clear; virtually every problem ultimately comes down to making one or more critical decisions to create the optimal solution.

We partner with our clients to solve these problems and create market leading, defensible, solutions via our deep subject matter expertise and thought leadership in Decision Thinking. This is delivered through advisory and delivering often high visibility, small and large scale bespoke projects built on best in class decision making practices and proprietary software.

We transform standard decision-making practices to maximise value for money and solve those hard problems.

We bring an openness, flexibility, creativity and transparency to decision making processes, educating, adding value, creating shared understanding and an aligned commitment to the way forward on any critical decision; driving successful execution.  We have organisations:

  1. actively involve stakeholders and

  1. move beyond considering JUST the dollars to considering everything that adds value - both the financial and non-financial. Always.

And it works!

Our Values

At Catalyze we ‘Strive, Drive and Thrive’.

For our clients and stakeholders, we value participation, transparency, tangible and intangible values, choice, performance and transformation.

We underpin our work with independence, creativity and quality, bringing expertise in Decision Thinking and years of experience with Multi Criteria Decision Analysis.

We want work to be fun, collaborative, engaging and flexible.  We are committed to all staff participating in shaping our company.  We want our people to grow to maximise their (and our) full potential! We welcome diversity and innovation.
