Insurance Services Lead (12 month fixed term contract)

About the Role:

Reporting to the Operations Leader, this role will build a positive and enthusiastic team culture and ensure staff technical capability, resources and member service delivery is in line with a best practice insurance administration model. As a key member of the Operations Administration leadership group, the Insurance Services Lead is responsible for delivering customer service excellence and driving and supporting operational change and efficiency across the claims and underwriting teams. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the introduction of and continually review best practice activities within claims management and underwriting functions
  • Providing leadership and influence in supporting the development of strategic initiatives to improve services, evaluating claims performance with consideration to efficiency, team performance, volumes and resources
  • Leading workforce management, including capacity planning, resource allocation and recruitment
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders including trustees and insurers
  • Identify service model enhancement opportunities and client requests that are outside the SLA and manage with appropriate teams
  • Working with the team to reduce operational risk, administration errors and omissions
  • Implement quality measures and continuous improvement initiatives in the claims and underwriting teams as determined and agreed

About You:

You are a strong leader who has the ability to manage, motivate and mentor staff, along with relevant tertiary qualifications.. These requirements are coupled with your extensive experience in an operational management position within the superannuation sector. In addition, prior experience in the Group Life, or equivalent, insurance space is essential for success in this position with a particular focus on insurance technical knowledge specifically related to claims or superannuation administration. Expert knowledge of claims (case management model) and underwriting environments, as well as knowledge of regulatory, legislative and technical issues within the industry are also areas to which you have had exposure.
