Funeral Director's Assistant

We are seeking a Funeral Director Assistant to join our team to support our Gold Coast Operations on a full-time basis.

InvoCare is an Australian owned company and industry leader that owns and operates funeral homes, cemeteries and crematoria across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

InvoCare has national funeral brands such as White Lady Funerals and Simplicity Funerals, as well as local funeral brands, such as George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals.

The successful candidate must have a caring and understanding nature together with well-developed interpersonal skills and sensitivity to circumstances involving grieving people.

As a part of our team, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Vehicle Maintenance/Cleaning
  • Driving Services
  • General Assistance during funeral ceremonies
  • Support to the family and attendees at a funeral service
  • Transfers of the deceased persons
  • Basic Mortuary practices

Whilst previous experience is advantageous, full training will be provided in the role.  Mostly we are looking for candidates that have exceptional customer service standards and can show empathy, patience and resilience in performing the role. You must be able to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the role.

The successful applicant must:

  • Be at ease working within a funeral, cemetery and crematoria environment
  • Demonstrate an inherit belief in Customer Service. This is our number one priority and candidates must be willing to service the needs of our families
  • Sensitivity, along with a comfort to circumstances involving grieving people, and their values and beliefs.
  • An ability to be customer focused, and to communicate and respond effectively to all levels of the public.
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow direction
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative as well as carry out duties in a safe manner and in accordance with Manual Handling, WHS/OHS guidelines
  • Excellent personal presentation and pride in themselves and the brand you represent
  • An unrestricted Driver’s License is essential
  • Have the ability to participate on an after-hours and weekend roster
  • As this is a varied role, your flexibility to complete a range of tasks is essential
