Ballarat Health Services (BHS) operates the Ballarat Base Hospital, the largest regional hospital in the Grampians region. It is the principal referral hospital for the entire region, which extends from Bacchus Marsh to the South Australian border, an area of 48,000 square kilometres. The Patient Services department at BHS currently has a vacancy for a Private Patient Liaison Clerk.  This position is responsible for assisting and supporting the Private Patient Liaison Officer (PPLO) with the day to day management of the Private Patient Initiative for Ballarat Health Services (BHS). The Private Patient Liaison Clerk (PPLC) is a member of the Patient Services team and is an escalation point for staff and patients with queries about private and compensable admissions at BHS.

The PPLC assists in identifying patients who have private health insurance. This involves initiating and maintaining contact with potential private and compensable patients and their families to provide information, support and ensuring appropriate services are delivered. Information and support is also achieved through engagement with medical, nursing, clerical and billing staff to ensure that private patients are identified appropriately.

The PPLC will also provide fulltime leave coverage for the PPLO when required. This coverage will encompass both roles when the PPLO is on leave.

The hours of work for this role will consist of 4 x 6 hour shifts. Including Mondays and Fridays.
