About Us

Established in 1939, Gowrie Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation committed to our purpose to champion good early childhood education and care.

We provide long daycare and kindergarten across five early learning centres located in Broadmeadows, Carlton, Carlton North, Docklands (The Harbour) and Yarraville; and through our Adult Learning department we also deliver qualifications in ECEC and professional development for the sector.

Our employee engagement levels are in the top 10% for care-based organisations, and 80% of our employees rate Gowrie Victoria as a truly great place to work.

2020 has been a challenging year for the ECEC sector and we have been able to retain our employees by offering flexible leave and work-from-home options.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for six (6) full time educators (Cert III and Diploma) for our new 66-place integrated kindergarten service. The service is co-located with the new Docklands Primary School and will commence operations in January 2021.

Reporting to the Early Childhood Teacher/Room Leader, you will contribute in the implementation of a high-quality early learning program by demonstrating initiative, completing tasks with minimal supervision and role modelling professional practice reflective of Gowrie Victoria’s purpose, philosophy and values. Furthermore, you will:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and the broader community.
  • Contribute to documentation that demonstrates intentional teaching and reflects children’s curiosity and learning.
  • Actively participate in, share and embed professional learning in the pursuit of higher standards.

About You

You will bring to the role:

  • A Cert III or Diploma qualification in ECEC or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of the NQF and approved learning frameworks;
  • 12 months work experience in early childhood (preferred) in implementing programs that are inclusive and respond to the interests, strengths and learning needs of individual children;
  • An ability to articulate your role as an Early Childhood Educator in line with the EYLF Belonging, Being and Becoming;
  • And an ability to work effectively in a team and engage in regular critical reflection.

What We Offer

Gowrie Victoria prides itself on our unique and engaging working environment.

  • We recognise and value the importance of creating a supportive environment and strong, healthy relationships.
  • Coaching and mentoring across our programs.
  • Targeted, holistic professional development, organisational conferences and social events.
  • An innovative staffing structure which allows teams' flexible time off the floor for planning, regular outings and the opportunity to participate in communities of practice and other development programs.
  • We actively work with universities and other partners to further research and continuously improve practice for ourselves and the sector.
  • Market competitive remuneration, RDOs and 15 days personal leave.
