Human Resources Advisor

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing support across the business with regard to generalist Human Resources (HR) activities. The position will focus on providing guidance in respect to HR policy and relevant legislation ensuring compliance with the companies Code of Business Integrity (COBI) with an aim to achieve effective utlisation of people to ensure the business maintains safe operational efficiency and delivers its objectives.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the recruitment process and selection process, including preparing job advertisements, sourcing, reviewing and shortlisting applicants, conducting interviews, selecting successful candidates, conducting relevant reference checks, preparing employment agreements and making offers to successful candidates;
  • Manage administer and facilitate the employee on-boarding and off-boarding processes;
  • Compile and send out employment information to new employees including an up to date position description;
  • Generate monthly reports and draft written communications; Maintain HR reports with internal movements and provide statistics to General Manager Corporate Services when required;
  • Provide assistance and carry out project work under the guidance of the General Manager Corporate Services;
  • Act as a central point of reference for both internal and external enquiries;
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with Airnorth policies and procedures and HR internal processes;
  • Contribute to the development, review and monitoring of HR administration procedures to ensure they provide an effective and consistent delivery of HR services;
  • Communicate with departments and the HR Team regarding HR and organisational issues and activities that impact the business;
  • Manage and maintain performance management processes;
  • Provide advice on HR Policies and procedures to Managers and staff;
  • Assist managers with staff performance issues;
  • Manage staff grievances and complaints;
  • Facilitate training for managers and staff on HR practices and procedures;
  • Work closely with General Manager Corporate Services across the business to monitor, review and update all policies in line with current legislation and best practice;
  • Maintain currency with industrial relations developments, and provide relevant advice / direction to the organisation on emerging IR issues / changes;
  • Monitor succession planning, where possible promoting internally to ensure the skills, experience is kept within the organisation;
  • Monitor and maintain legislation and legal compliance. Liaise with relevant third parties ensuring the benefit of the employer and employee;
  • Ensure the consistent and fair interpretation and application of Company policies and procedures;
  • Identify and raise with General Manager Corporate Services on the need for amendments or additional policies, prepare drafts for review; and
  • Assist with Union negotiations (minutes, agenda, drafting of Agreement);
  • Contribute effectively to various audit activities, including internal and external audits;
  • Conduct Exit interviews and provide pertinent feedback to appropriate managers;
  • Assist in the Coordination of Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) process for all employees, including reports, renewals, company signatory delegate, identify appropriate access;
  • Assist in Administering and maintaining the process of company assets (key management, car park passes)

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following:

  • A minimum of 4 years previous experience in a Generalist HR role, with a proven track record in working as a in a small to medium business;
  • Must have tertiary qualification in HR or similar;
  • An in depth understanding of employment legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements;
  • Proven ability to interpret legislation and policy and provide advice and guidance to managers;
  • High level confidentiality and probity skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Ability to work unsupervised;
  • Ability to prioritise work load;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite of products;
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation;
  • Demonstrated ability in report writing and drafting written communications;
  • Eligible to hold and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card
