Percussion and Drum Kit Tutor

We are Queensland's first grammar school. Our school caters for boys from Prep to Year 12 through an outstanding education offered to day and boarding students. We have developed innovative approaches to address the specific individual learning and personal development needs of boys.

Ipswich Grammar School is seeking the services of a qualified Percussion and Drum Kit Tutor to provide group and individual lessons during the day including the ability to conduct a percussion ensemble as part of the Extra-Curricular Arts Performance Program before and or after school.

Tutors must be able to demonstrate qualifications to enter students into AMEB exams and perform ensemble parts. Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain a Blue Card. Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers is highly regarded.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and preparing lessons, setting and marking student tasks, assessing, recording and reporting on progress and achievement
  • Preparing and accompanying for examinations and attending meetings in connection with the administration of lessons and rehearsals
  • Marking attendance on rolls and conducting performances both internally and external to the school during the day and also outside of normal schooling hours
  • Communicating with Arts Administration, the Instrumental Coordinator and the Head of Arts in successfully negotiating the day to day operation of duties and be able to plan ahead communicating effectively with stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of school notifications, procedures and policies
