Position Purpose

As our Technical Pre-Sales Consultant you will work closely with the Sales Team and technical partners to deliver consulting engagements to market. This role will be responsible for requirements gathering, high level designs, as well as writing and  presenting proposals and tender responses to potential managed and professional services clients.

The Technical Pre-Sales Consultant you will be the technical expert for customer engagements; engaging, advising, and offering expertise to our clients on the full breadth of Hostopia services across both AWS and VMware platforms.

Solid experience in consulting with customer stakeholders at all levels is a necessity as you will become the customer’s trusted advisor and technology champion on their journey; starting from requirements gathering and business case development, assessment and planning, migration and implementation, and continual improvement of technology and business systems. This role spans across both technical presales and delivery of consulting professional services.


Essential Capabilities & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of customer facing experience in presales, sales engineering, or supporting implementations of professional services projects.

  • Experience and deep understanding of technology and solutions selling.

  • Demonstrated experience with “on-premise to cloud” migrations, digital transformation, and consulting projects.

  • Understanding of the design and implementation of CI/CD projects, infrastructure as code and DevOps practices.

  • Expert-level presentation, customer service, financial/business acumen, and negotiation skills at all levels of customer engagement.

  • Solid understanding of web architecture and tech (IIS, Apache, NGINX, CDN, Caching, Load Balancing, PostgreSQL, MySQL).

  • Demonstrates expertise in multiple disciplines, proven capabilities and execution.

  • Experience with multi-tiered architectures.

  • Passion for teaching and mentoring technical staff.

  • Excellent written and presentation communication skills with the capacity to articulate complex technical topics to varying customer audiences (from developers to executives).

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect and other industry-recognised certifications are desirable.

  • Knowledge of other of the below technologies and platforms is a bonus:

    • Puppet

    • Datadog

    • New Relic

    • WAF & CDN platforms

    • Cloud Health
