Early Childhood Educator (Casual)

Awabakal is expanding!! We are seeking experienced, passionate, and committed casual workers with either a Certificate III, Diploma or working towards an Early Childhood Teaching qualification to join Awabakal’s Early Learning and Education Team in both our Wickham and Glendale site.

Awabakal has provided health & community services to Aboriginal people living across the Newcastle and surrounding regions for more than 40 years and is dedicated to advancing the wellbeing of our community.

About the role

As a valued member of the team, you will be responsible for providing culturally appropriate education and care for children enrolled at the preschool services, consistent with our philosophy and curriculum. This includes working with children, their families, other Awabakal services and staff to support individual goals of the children.

This is a Casual position, School Terms ONLY.

About you

  • Certificate III or Diploma in Children’s Services or working towards an approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification
  • Current First Aid, Child Protection and Asthma & Anaphylaxis Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an Early Childhood Service
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of Children’s Program (desirable)
  • Experience in the documentation of children’s learning in the observation forms of learning stories and work samples (desirable)
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of regulations and WH&S Policies
  • Proficient MS Office suite and computer skills
  • Strong communication skills contributing to the development of relationships and effective partnerships with families.
  • Drivers Licence (desirable)
