Senior Software Developer

Aerometrex is an award-winning company providing full aerial mapping services and products to clients both nationally and internationally. As industry leaders we use both existing and emerging air and ground imaging technologies to deliver the highest quality products & services to our clients. As a result of business growth we are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Adelaide head office.

With a focus on growing our software development team, this newly created role reports to the Software Development Manager and is ideally suited to someone looking to take the next step in their career or someone who has been working at a senior level for a short time. With a passion for development and a strong aptitude for open communication and team collaboration, you will work on a number of exciting projects while supporting the Software Development Manager with team development.

As a newly created position, this is a unique opportunity for the right person to develop this role under the guidance of the Software Development Manager.  

 

What this role involves:

  • Building scalable cloud-based application architectures
  • Database management
  • Working with the Software Development Manager and product stakeholders to build application features
  • Provide time estimates on development activities
  • Provide input on the design of new system features
  • Deploying applications to cloud based architectures
  • Ability to use Git Flow methodologies to manage projects
  • Planning software development sprints
  • Supporting junior developers and providing code reviews

 

What you’ll need (essential):

  • Experience with managing application in an AWS architecture 
  • Experience developing web-based applications with Python using Flask or Django  
  • Experience with maintaining code repositories with Git 
  • Knowledge of unit testing and demonstrated ability to manage staged testing environments. 
  • Experience with SQS and Lambda 
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS  
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the business
  • Ability to balance competing priorities effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with an aptitude for self-learning
  • Some leadership experience including the ability to help guide projects & initiatives and support junior team members in the achievement of goals
  • Excellent personal organisation and time management skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development  
  • Degree in computer science or equivalent field 

 

What we’d like (desirable):

  • Experience with front end development
  • JavaScript 
  • Experience managing GIS assets
