We want you to empower this team to experiment bravely, act mindfully, and get to product as soon as possible.

  • Welcome to Acusensus, knowing that the work we do prevents injuries and saves lives inspires us.
  • We seek out and value each other’s ideas, thinking, perspective & contribution.
  • Inspiring  new growth role - there are great opportunities for you here!
  • Location: Melbourne CBD, with flexible ‘work from home & office’ arrangements in place.
  • Excellent base + super + market leading STI/LTI’s.

Enterprising, creative and purposeful – you surge forward at pace with impressive intent, to skyrocket this team’s positive impact on society, on a global scale...  Magic!

If you;

  • Have ‘zero tolerance’ when it comes to distracted driving and other dangerous driving behaviours;
  • Set your goals and personal standards high, then do the hard work with determination to achieve them;
  • Forge ahead and keep momentum building, disallowing the ‘non-essentials’ to bog you down;
  • Accurately analyse a situation, assess the risk and instinctively know the best way to progress; and,
  • When it comes to the work you do, enjoy nothing more than exploring the limits of what is possible, brilliant, exciting and meaningful…

……then we need to be speaking to you!

Welcome to Acusensus | acusensus.com

“At any given time, between 1% and 5% of drivers on the road

are distracted by their mobile phone.”

Established in 2018, Acusensus is the proud home of world 1st technology designed to detect dangerous driving behaviours on our roads.  Equipping governments in Australia and abroad with unique AI-enabled systems, our mission is to change driver behaviour and reduce fatalities and injuries on our roads.  Based in Melbourne, Sydney and the US, we are a growing international team of positive, well-intentioned and bright people, with a well-articulated pathway to scale and take our wonderful technologies to the world.

The Team Culture

Beyond the intelligent application of the latest in AI technologies, perhaps the other standout feature of this advancing team is their collective engagement and belief in their product and the positive social impact it will have.  Together with your colleagues, you will be leading and enhancing a culture that is collaborative, very organised, proactive, open, honest, flexible and focused on fixing problems, learning from them, remaining constructive and consistently moving forward.  With culture front and centre, this group is set to scale robustly and to enjoy the journey along the way.

About this Position

Reporting through to the CTO, this exciting new position is critical to the team’s next stage of growth.  Continuing achievements in the ‘distracted driving’ space mean we can also now begin exploring how to evolve and apply our technology solutions to different problems and affect positive social outcomes.

In this role, your primary goal and purpose will be to lead and inspire our development team from concept to minimal viable product, and accelerate their ability to convert a growing pipeline of opportunities (in Australia and around the world) into MVP software used for Demonstrations and paid Pilot Programs.

This will involve quickly taking stock of our current practices and then kickstarting the process of streamlining, with the view to achieving ‘Concept 2 MVP’ turnaround times that set a new industry standard.   With the full support of our invested leadership team, this is the ideal platform for you to take your vision for a high-speed MVP methodology, and turn it into a reality.

To start out, you’ll be leading a team of 3 - 4 experienced software engineers, which will grow to 6 – 7 members, across the 18 months ahead.  Given this, your ability to connect with and engage team members in positive goal setting, coaching, mentoring and performance enhancing activities will be central to your success.  Defining the metrics that drive the team’s collective performance will also be pivotal, same too your ability to cascade these into individual performance ambitions.  Your innate talent to bring clarity, and to focus energies with precision, is the game changer here.

Working in an Agile/Scrum environment, your team will be developing software for Real Time Camera Enforcement Systems (I.e. detect vehicles, trigger cameras, sensor fusion, image processing); Machine Learning (application, infrastructure, testing, training); System Monitoring Solutions (alarms, user interfaces); interfaces to other systems; secure image review systems; and Testing (unit testing, integration testing and other quality assurance framework development).  Using key technologies AWS, C++, C#, neural networks, Docker, Java, JS, Terraform, Linux Operating Systems, sensors, image processing and machine learning.

Right fit for you?

This position is perfectly geared for a standout Software Development Lead with a regarded technical skillset and a passion for showing the way. We want you to empower this team to experiment bravely, act mindfully and get to product as soon as possible.  You will also be driven to apply your unique, versatile and valued blend of skillsets to a cause that matters, together with a team of like-minded people wholeheartedly committed to the journey.

Additional Selection Criteria includes;

  • Great communication skills – you articulate your messages clearly, engage constructively with others and welcome feedback;
  • An appetite for pushing forward, optimising the resources at hand, and breaking through to solve complex problems at rapid pace;
  • Clever planning and organisation skills – you have tremendous foresight and know where best to focus a team’s energies; and,
  • Exceptional numeracy and literacy skills;

Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor Degree or higher) in Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics will also be well regarded.
