Communications Officer

Outback Stores aspires to be the national company of choice by being the most efficient and effective provider of retails services that deliver quality and sustainable stores.  Our mission is to make a positive difference in the health, employment, and economy of remote Indigenous communities; with an emphasis on the wellbeing of Indigenous people by providing access to a nutritious and affordable food supply.

This is a rare opportunity to join a progressive organisation where your high-level attention to detail, sound organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks will play an integral role in ensuring that all facets of communications for Outback Stores are managed efficiently. Reporting to the CEO the Communications Officer is responsible for the internal and external communications for the business. Your ability to be adaptable, self-motivated and on occasions intuitive will ensure the day to day requirements are met proficiently.

Competencies & Experience:

  • High cultural intelligence; particularly relating to Australian Indigenous cultures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work autonomously when required.
  • Strong professional and ethical standards with an ability to build rapport with a broad range of individuals and organisations.
  • Sound digital literacy to gather, interpret and report data.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concisely written reports and co-ordinate publications.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Indesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro & Illustrator).
  • Ability to navigate WordPress Content Management System for company website.
  • Current manual driver’s license.
