About the Role

The primary role of the Engineering Manager is to provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Production Engineering Team within Patriot Campers. The Production Engineering Manager will develop and maintain a stage gate process ensuring a smooth transition of New Product Designs coordinating internal and external resources through to Production and the continuous improvement of existing products and labour efficiencies.

This is a full time (42 hours per week) role. Office hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 4:00pm on Friday. 

Key accountabilities;

  • Develop and maintain stage gate process for production engineering tasks
  • Develop, implement and evaluate all engineering plans, budgets, policies and procedures, systems and standard operating procedures
  • Perform product testing to meet required design standards and are 'designed for manufacture' in consultation with the production team
  • Provide engineering technical support for warranty and operations workers
  • Manage the companies Intellectual Property program
  • Consult and communicate with all stakeholders
  •  Reporting requirements (KPIs, CARs, Budgets, etc)

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in leadership or management (desirable)

  • Strong Sheet Metal background and knowledge in design and sheet metal processing equipment capabilities.

  • 3D Design and Drafting experience in Inventor with extensive management experience in Autodesk Vault (or similar)

  • Understanding of Time and Motion studies and material handling for improvement of labour efficiencies. 

  • 10 years of experience in a Production Engineering role, gained at a senior level (ideally more than 5 years), plus experience in production and project management, manufacturing engineering and people management. (ideally automotive related)

  • Practical experience in Design, Test and Validation for New Products

  • Experience in ensuring compliance with relevant Australian and International automotive test and compliance standards.

  • Strong knowledge of project management, Stage Gate new product development methodology,  ISO9001,  Design software

  • Strong and proven team leadership, consultation, communication and management skills.

  • Strong WHS&E understanding 

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office packages
