Due to internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our close knit team. You will be based on the idyllic grounds of UOW where there is plenty of activity, coffee and food, supporting the delivery of the people agenda across our varied business units.  With approx. 400 employees you will deliver strong generalist support, advice and coaching to managers on general human resources issues such as recruitment and selection, commercialism, and employee and industrial relations, and act as a point of escalation within the People and Culture Team for more complex issues.

You will also work with managers to advise on and apply policies consistently and fairly, guiding and advising managers on performance management and working with them to develop appropriate solutions, including handling disciplinary and grievance advice and support.

We are looking for a strong HR generalist with solid experience in enterprise bargaining, commercial awareness, experience in a fast paced environment and working in a medium size commercial and professional organisation. Previous experience of partnering with business managers for results based outcomes is a must.

You will have:

  • Extensive previous experience in a senior generalist HR role or relevant equivalent role;
  • Experience in a medium size commercial and professional organisation which is customer and sales focused;
  • A tertiary qualification in HRM or related discipline or similar solid business experience to the same level;
  • Knowledge of people management theory and practice such as organisational design, recruitment and selection, performance management, remuneration and benefits, WHS and general industrial/employee relations;
  • A thorough understanding of Australian industrial relations instruments and interactions;
  • Prior experience navigating and bargaining enterprise agreements; 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously;
  • Flexibility towards managing priorities and work generally;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy in work;
  • Solid Microsoft skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills; and 
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
