The Position

St John of God Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW providing acute community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. Our healthcare facility is operated by St John of God Health Care and provides public patient services under a public-private partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

An opportunity has become available for an Allied Health Assistant to commence within our Transitional Aged Care Program. The Transitional Aged Care Program (TACP) is a service provided to aged care clients in their own homes to assist them in their recovery following a hospital admission. The Allied Health Assistant role is to assist these clients as directed by the multidisciplinary team, which includes provision of personal care, domestic assistance, transport, shopping, social support and supervision with their rehabilitation program. There is also an essential administrative component included in the duties.

This opportunity will be offered as a Permanent Full time position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or commitment to complete same. 
  • Ability to follow instructions, policies and procedures. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with an ability to relate to others in a sensitive and professional manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Well-developed organisational skills, with an ability to manage your own workflow and cope with competing demands.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.  
  • Sound computer skills.
  • Current NSW Driver’s license with proved excellent driving record
  • Current First aid Certificate
  • Desirable:
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, quality improvement. 
  • Experience working in an inpatient or community setting.
