About the Role:

Reporting into the IT Operations Manager, this role will be primarily responsible for building and maintaining the technology systems in use providing the best user experience possible. This role requires involvement on projects, BAU maintenance, service desk escalations and identify and fixing the root cause of issues. The role will be joining the team at an exciting time as the team looks to embark on a journey of introducing automation, scripting and Infrastructure as code into the current technology environment.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Continuous improvement of existing technologies and processes and continuous adoption of new technologies and processes (project-based works).
  • Ownership of technologies supporting organisation systems including but not limited to:
    • Microsoft server technologies
    • Office 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, MS Teams, Intune MDM)
    • CITRIX
    • VMWARE
    • Veeam backup & replication
    • Azure IaaS
    • F5 BIG-IP load balancer appliance
    • Palo Alto firewall
    • CISCO networking
  • Ownership of IT Operations support issues – finding the root cause of escalated service desk issues and ensuring tickets are addressed in an appropriate timeframe.
    • Following agreed procedures and adhering to SLAs on responding to requests for assistance
    • Maintaining accurate log entries or fault with resolution and contact details
    • Ensure technical queries not progressing are escalated accordingly
    • Make sure technical documentation is up-to-date.
  • Provide the business with a professional service by ensuring requests are regularly updated and realistic resolution times are provided.
  • Ownership of availability and uptime of core line of business systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

  • Strong knowledge on Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to desktop and server 2008, 2012, 2016 & 2019 operating systems, Active Directory, IIS, PKI and SQL Server.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Office 365 (email services and O365 apps such as MS Teams, SharePoint Online and Intune MDM).
  • Azure and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with MS SCCM patching, SOE build and application deployment.
  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler, VDI and published applications.
  • Automation and Scripting including Experience with Devops methodologies and demonstrated experience managing Infrastructure as Code.
  • Virtualisation technologies such as VMWARE or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Cisco Networks (switches and appliances).
  • Excellent performance troubleshooting and optimisation skills across applications, servers, virtualisation, network and storage layers.
  • Enterprise monitoring tools to measure availability and performance.
  • Designing & implementing best of breed disaster recovery solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with designing and implementing complex systems in a simple and robust manner.
  • Financial service experience with regulatory and industry frameworks will be beneficial e.g. APRA, PCI.

Qualifications (Formal study undertaken and completed)

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Azure and/or AWS certified.
  • MCSE certified.
  • CCNA certified.
