About the business
Triple J Tours is a Family owned and operated business that operates "Australia’s longest daily river cruise" and has been touring on the Ord River for over 30 years. Our core business is marine tourism. We have 5 vessels that we operate on the incredible Ord River from Kununurra in the Kimberley area of WA. Along with our vessels we also operate a fleet of ute’s, m/bus, coaster and road coaches which are involved in our touring.
The maintenance and upkeep of our fleet is something that we have huge pride in and is an integral part of successfully operating one of Australia’s premier marine tourism businesses.
About the role
This is currently a seasonal job. We are a seasonal business that operates between the months of April – October and as such only require the role to be filled for 7 – 8 months. During this timeframe it is a full time position. Based on 5/6 days a week but is needed to be available for extra days as required when needed. Our mechanics role is to service and maintain our marine and our motor fleets, do pre departure checks, fuelling & ordering of parts and liaising with contractors involved in work.
This role can be slightly tailored to suit the right candidate.

Kununurra is based in the Kimberley area of WA and is the youngest town in Australia. With that comes a town that is vibrant and exciting. With a young population the area is full of huge amounts of various sports to be involved in and an active social life. Kununurra is based on the banks of the Ord River and is the epi-centre of activity in the Kimberley. The waterway on which we work we also play on. Water sports, fishing, camping & enjoying the sunset with a cold one are just a small sample of what is available to someone calling this town home.

A work vehicle will be supplied for your use to and from work and within work hours.
Skills and experience
We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in running their own workshop that also has the ability, drive and motivation to learn new skills that may be needed to fulfil this position and bring value to the Business. Marine, small engines or automotive trade certificate is required as is a current driver’s license. A marine mechanic specifically trained in Yamaha is preferred as the majority of work is on our fleet of 350HP Yamaha outboards. However a heavy diesel or automotive mechanic who is willing and capable of moving into the marine sector will be considered due to our modern fleet of 4 stroke outboards. Experience with 12 volt electrical will be required as this position requires rigging and installation of outboards, marine equipment and electronics. Basic computer skills are now required for diagnostics, commissioning new equipment and training etc. Attention to detail and pride in your work and performance are essential to be successful in this position
Other trades or skills that would be looked favourably on but are not essential are auto air-con, fabrication, aluminium welding, dangerous goods license, medium/heavy ridged license & skipper’s ticket.

- Do you have experience performing automotive services on heavy vehicles (e.g. trucks, agricultural vehicles)?
