Mechanical Trades Assistant | Service Person | Onslow

Onslow Salt Pty Ltd is a solar salt mine located at the coastal town of Onslow in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Onslow is located 1387km north of Perth and has a population of approx 700 people, which is fast growing. It offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle providing the ideal way of life for the boating, fishing and camping enthusiast.

Company housing is supplied rent free with generous company allowances to cover most general domestic services. Private health cover is also offered to employees and their family.

 

THE POSITION

The position reports to the Mechanical Coordinator and plays an instrumental part in focusing on preventative maintenance and breakdown repair of all mobile and fixed plant.  You will join and contribute to a dedicated team committed to providing consistent high standard maintenance services whilst maintaining safety standards at all times


THE DUTIES

The duties of the role will include but are not be limited to:

  • Ensure equipment and materials are available for the days activities. 
  • Spray clean the trucks and other heavy mining machinery. 
  • Assist the workshop personnel with mechanical repairs. 
  • Preventative maintenance and breakdown tasks as allocated to you. 
  • Inspect, service and refuel site generators. 
  • Inspect, service and refuel all mobile and fixed plant equipment. 
  • Operate within the workshop and out in the field. 
  • Maintaining high levels of safety and environmental standards.
  • Offer technical support to other staff members.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have the following:

  • A ‘HR’ class WA licence.
  • Previous mine site experience.
  • Commitment to the Health and Safety of all whilst protecting the environment.
  • Capacity to work safely, identifying hazards and changes that may impact safety.
  • Good interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively unsupervised or within a team.
  • Self-motivation and initiative.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills.
  • Be able to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, obtain a National Police Clearance and be able to obtain and retain a Maritime Security Identification Card.
  • Be passionate about what you do.
