Catering Industries Pty Ltd is a leading provider of contracted hospitality services (catering, cleaning and laundry) to Australia's health and aged care, education, government, corporate and resources sector. We currently employ over 1400 personnel across various operations in our active market.
 

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Chef to work at our client's aged care facility located in Canberra.

Hours/ Shifts

  • Tue - Sat, 38 hours/week
  • Detailed roster will be discussed in the interview

Skills and experience

  • 3+ year's experience in a similar role - aged care experience highly regarded
  • Cert III in commercial cookery
  • Ability to supervise and manage the kitchen team
  • Ability to multi-task and perform work within deadlines
  • Support the chef manager in preparation and service of high quality nutritious meals
  • Experienced in ordering, delivery and handling/control of stock
  • Empathy and respect towards aged care residents, staff and clients.
  • The ability to function within a busy kitchen whilst working harmoniously with the team.
  • Must have reliable transport.
  • Due to Aged Care regulations, you must possess a current Flu Vaccine and Police check cert (or be willing to obtain it before commencing employment)
     

Key responsibilities

  • Ability to produce high quality meals in line with aged care food service/HACCP guidelines, Quality Assurance procedures including low and high care residents.
  • Assisting in menu design, changes and implementation.
  • Responsible for preparation of special diets such as puree, gluten free and texture modified etc.
  • High level of QA, WH&S, HACCP and Food Safety knowledge.
