About the Role:
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager supports the Nurse Unit Manager in the operation of the department, ensuring achievement of excellence in care delivery in line with policies and procedures, best practice and legislative requirements. Provides leadership and support to all staff to ensure positive patient outcomes are achieved in line with departmental and hospital strategic objectives.
This integral leadership role will see you lead and manage the ward in the absence of the NUM, and assisting the NUM in the course of their duties. This will include facilitating patient admissions and discharges, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team, maintenance of patient files and documentation, and establishing rapport with patients and their family. Under the direction of the NUM, the ANUM provides clinical and management leadership in the delivery of quality, patient centred care within the Department, in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures, and ensures adequate, safe, quality, nursing standards are maintained.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, extensive clinical skills and experience within midwifery.
You will have demonstrated leadership, people and conflict management skills, together with attention to detail and continuous improvement capabilities. You will be available to work a mixture of shifts, which will include weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
In addition, you will also have:
- the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
- a focus on time management and good communication skills
- knowledge of legislative requirements and relevant professional practice
- demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- positive self-awareness and with a caring and nurturing personality
