Youth Videographer / Editor - Freeza, City of Kingston

About us:

Kingston Youth Services provides a free and non-judgemental service to support young people between 12-25 years with a link to the City of Kingston (live, study or work). We also offer a variety of groups and programs to provide opportunities for young people to gain hands on experience, network and gain new skills. Our Freeza Fuse Productions Crew undertake the planning, organising and running of youth music and cultural events within the City of Kingston. Being a part of the crew will give you key industry exposure, access to on demand training and valuable hands on experience.

Freeza is a Victorian Government funded program that helps young people get involved in a community setting by planning, developing and delivering safe, drug and alcohol-free music and cultural events. Freeza events help the local community recognise that young people can make a valuable contribution to the life of the community and provide significant connections for other young people to the communities they live in. Being part of Freeza and organis­ing events helps develop teamwork, leadership skills and a variety of other transferable skills that are increasingly sought after in the creative and music industries. It can also lead to study and work opportunities for young people, especially those who would like to start a career in the Entertainment, Music and Events industries or similar.

About the Role:

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and reliable young person who can create, edit and film  in an upcoming Fuse Productions project called Take 2. Take 2 is a video series where young people who have a connection with the City of Kingston will be invited to perform original and cover songs in a live showcase at our new Youth Services space, Platform 81 and will then feature on Kingston Youth Services social media platforms.  

Your role will involve shooting and editing exciting video content for Freeza Fuse Productions, which will feature across all Kingston Youth Services social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube and Instagram). Tasks include; Filming live music performances which include interviews, editing videos, creative direction and project management in partnership with other crew members. You will be working alongside the Fuse Productions crew members and will report to the lead Fuse Productions worker. This role will be as an Independent Contractor with hours negotiated based on projects undertaken.

NB: This is a pilot project which will finish in June 2021.

About you:

  • You are between the ages of 18 -24 (As per funding requirements, this role must be filled by a young person)
  • You live, work or study in the City of Kingston
  • You have a passion for videography, photography and editing. 
  • You have basic working knowledge of videography principles and have experience in using the Adobe Suite.
  • You love working with other people and in a team and have excellent communication skills
  • You are creative, and you can think outside the box
  • You have an eye for detail and excellent time management skills
  • You are reliable, can take direction from management and can work alongside other team members in an inclusive and respectful manner
  • You are willing to participate in industry related training offered to you, attend fortnightly team meetings and have the capacity to work on projects that fall outside of the normal 9.00am to 5.00pm standard business day as well as on weekends

Essential requirements

  • Have a / or are willing to get a Working with Children Check (Employment)
  • Willing to undergo a Police Check
  • Have an ABN- As this is a contracted position, it is essential that you can provide an ABN or show intention to get an ABN prior to commencement of work.
  • Adhere to Child Safety Standards
  • Undertake any Council required / requested training
  • Adhere to Council and Youth Services Policies and Procedures
  • You live, work or study in the City of Kingston
  • Be between the ages of 18 -24

Non essential, but preferred

Experience in videography, photography and editing or a related field OR can provide examples of previous work of videography, photography and /or editing.
